Interestingly, the Google trend team compared the 2018 results with those of 2017. The most spelling word for New Mexico people in 2017 is "banana" (bananas), and the least spelled word in 2017 is a slightly more complex "permanently" (permanent). Last year, Pennsylvania people were obsessed with how to spell "sauerkraut" correctly, but this year it is "schedule".
The results of 2018 showed the peak of the search for "beautiful" (beauty) and the "Mary Poppins" (Mary Poppins) fictional word "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious". This may be related to Disney's Mary Poppins Returns later this year.
The Google trend team launched this chart at the end of this year's National Spelling Bee. A 14 year old boy from Texas who won the championship was Koinonia.
