South Korea is expected to reach a deal with the US on this issue, as Japan’s recent export restrictions on South Korea may hurt US IT companies.

Earlier, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced that it will restrict the production of chips and smartphones for South Korea from July 4th. After the export restrictions came into effect, Korean technology companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix were affected.

Japan's three restricted exports are mainly used in chip and other industrial processes, while Japan accounts for 70% to 90% of the production of these three materials, making it difficult for Korean chip makers to find alternative sources.
