In October last year, Qualcomm became the first vendor to offer 802.11ay wireless chip solutions. 802.11ay is an upgrade standard for 802.11ad. Based on the 60GHz band, it is not only faster, but also has a wider transmission range, and the delay is lower than the common 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

802.11ay has a bandwidth of 10Gbps, while 802.11ad has 5Gbps.

Of course, 60Ghz is too poor for wall penetration, so it is only suitable for short-distance high-speed transmission scenarios, such as VR, IoT, etc.

It is reported that Qualcomm and wireless analysis and testing giant Sporton will receive FCC's approval for 60GHz, which will use industry leadership to promote large-scale commercial use of 802.11ay.
