Earlier this month, IBM announced the formal completion of its acquisition of Red Hat, an important layout of Blue Giant in the cloud service market, at a cost of $34 billion.

IBM has stopped participating in the consumer market these years. PC, X86 servers and other businesses have been sold. In addition to the cloud business, another focus is AI. Earlier this year, IBM announced a cooperation agreement with McCormick, a food company. This is IBM's first cross-border involvement in the food industry.

What does IBM do to enter the food industry? Of course, it is not to produce IBM brand food, but to help food companies develop more flavor through AI artificial intelligence technology of IBM.IBM says AI is able to explore food flavors more effectively and quickly, learning and predicting new flavor combinations from hundreds of millions of data points in the fields of perception science, consumer preferences and condiments.

IBM is certainly not the only one in the new cross-border Silicon Valley. It is a new investment hotspot to improve food development and taste by using advanced technologies such as big data and AI. According to the data, in 2018, the investment in food science and technology reached 16.9 billion US dollars.

Foodpairing, an American startup, used AI technology to create an astonishing combination of raw oyster kiwifruit. Although it sounds like a thunderstorm, this dish has become a sign of a Belgian restaurant.
