The experimental preparation of multi-qubit entangled states is the key symbol to measure the control capability of quantum computing platform, and the international competition is particularly fierce. After nearly two years of device design and fabrication, experimental control and data processing, a joint team of Chinese scholars successfully pushed the number of entangled bits to 20.
Song Chao, Ph.D. student of Physics Department of Zhejiang University, Xu Kai, associate researcher of Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Li Hekang, Ph.D., are co-authors of the paper. Researchers Fan Jie, Zheng Dongning, Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Wang Haohua, Zhejiang University, shared the communication. Other authors include Professor Wang Dawei of Zhejiang University, Academician Zhu Shiyao, Research Fellow Haojie of Institute of Automation of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Assistant Research Fellow Feng Hui, Dr. Zhang Yuran of Beijing Computational Science Research Center, and the young team of Physics Department of Zhejiang University who participated in the construction of superconducting quantum computation and quantum simulation experimental platform.
Previously, a team from the University of Science and Technology of China created a record of entanglement by manipulating 12 superconducting quantum bits. Now that number has been refreshed, humans can manipulate exactly 20 superconducting qubits at the same time.
