Original title: Samsung Display may suspend output at South Korean LCD plant: spokeswoman
Samsung Display, a panel maker of Samsung Electronics, said on August 16 that the company was considering shutting down the South Korean LCD factory, according to foreign media.
Samsung displays currently operates two LCD production lines in South Korea and one in China. In a statement, the company said:
Increased competition from Chinese brands, the transition to more advanced OLED panels and slowing demand for smartphones have led to lower LCD panel sales and weaker prices for South Korean display makers.
Samsung display rival LG Display has transformed one of its LCD lines into a OLED line, and the company is likely to follow suit. (small)<#comment>#comment><#comment>#comment><#comment>#comment>
