On the evening of August 19th, Beijing time, US local business minister Ross said in an interview with Fox News, that the United States will extend Huawei’s purchase of US products for a temporary period of 90 days. The deadline is about November 19th.

Ross explained that many US rural communications companies rely on Huawei equipment, and another 90 days can give these companies more time to adapt. Ross also said that the parties have not yet negotiated on Huawei's obtaining a formal license.

As early as May this year, when the United States listed Huawei in the entity list, Huawei obtained a temporary license for three months to continue trading with US companies. Over time, the license will soon be Faced with expiration issues.

This temporary license is mainly for facilitating Huawei to continue to provide follow-up support to existing customers. It seems to be contrary to the US decision to sanction Huawei, but there are very real reasons behind it.

Many small and medium-sized cities and rural telecommunications networks in the United States are provided by small operators. Most of these operators choose Huawei equipment because of cost problems. If Huawei suddenly disappears, the subsequent maintenance of these operators' equipment will become a problem. Moreover, so far, the United States has not provided a perfect solution to the problems faced by these operators. Therefore, the US Department of Commerce has once again extended the “temporary procurement license” for Huawei. The validity period is not surprising.

Although the United States has once again extended the “temporary license” for Huawei, this does not mean that the United States is “soft to the United States”. The sanctions will not relax, and may affect the US national security products such as chips and software. Technology still prohibits exports to Huawei.

On the other hand, the United States has included 46 Huawei affiliates in the entity list while granting temporary permits. So far, the total number of Huawei subsidiaries listed in the US “list of entities” has reached 114.
