On September 7, 2019, the team of Qingdao University affiliated Hospital successfully connected with the laboratory of Xixiu District people's Hospital of Anshun City, Guizhou Province, 3000 kilometers away, with the help of the latest intelligent medical perception interaction technology in China and the 5G network provided by China Unicom and Huawei Co., Ltd., and completed the largest remote experimental animal minimally invasive operation in China. This is also the first case of ultra-remote autonomous robot surgery based on 5G network environment in the world.
The operation relies on two characteristics of 5G ultra-wide bandwidth and ultra-low delay. The distal surgeon operates on soft tissue by manipulating the robot. The proximal robot can accurately reproduce the distal surgeon's operation in real time and reach the operation site accurately. The remote precise operation is successfully completed.
In addition, considering the industry's doubts about the safety and stability of telesurgery, the first international simulation of intraoperative signal interruption and network attacks was realized during the operation period, which verified the security and reliability of 5G network, and provided a reference case for the formulation of relevant standards in the field of telemedicine.
