After receiving the new funds, AutoX said it would use it to build an autopilot fleet and add new members to its technical team. Since it has joined Alibaba's ecosystem, AutoX also plans to use automated driving solutions in the logistics industry.
AutoX was founded in Silicon Valley in 2016 by Xiao Jianxiong, a former assistant professor at Princeton University. This round of financing has also attracted some investors from Southeast Asia, and the follow-up should open up more markets.
In this January Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2019), the start-up has shown how to transport hamburgers and fries with autopilot cars.
Earlier this month, AutoX also worked with the Shanghai government to launch 100 robots in the Jiading Demonstration Zone in 2020 so that local residents could get to and from work in driverless taxis.
