Only a Tesla Model X electric vehicle is on the surface, but the license plate has a very rich meaning, including ThinkXE, June 2020 and so on.

In short, Raja Koduri is implying next June.It will officially announce the Xe architecture. This time point is next year's Taipei Computer Exhibition ComputeX. As the largest annual PC industry exhibition, it is also appropriate to release a new graphics card.

Of course, we should also guess that the release in June next year does not mean that it will go public in June, and it will not be possible to really see the graphics card of the Xe architecture in the second half of 2020.

For Xe graphics cards, the specification leaks are still quite limited. Only know that Gen12 used in Tiger Lake 2nd generation 10nm processor is also Xe architecture. It will support a new display state buffer (DSB), which is part of DX12 display controller. It can help shorten loading time, reduce CPU load and make context switching faster.

More importantly, the 12-generation verification will make a major adjustment to the EU ISA (Execution Unit Instruction Set), which is the biggest change since the release of the i965 integrated graphics card 13 years ago.

In addition, Intel will remove the data consistency between register reads and writes, requiring the compiler to synchronize the relevant instructions at any time.

Gen12 kernel also doubles the number of EU per sub-block (subslice) from 8 to 16, which helps to expand the size of the whole architecture. The information leaked recently shows that the number of EU units is as high as 96, which is more than 1.5 times the size of Gen11 on the Ice Lake processor.
