Qualcomm's upcoming chipset will support Indian NavIC satellite navigation system

Qualcomm's NavIC support will enhance India's geolocation capabilities for mobile, automotive and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions.

As part of the upgrade platform, Qualcomm Location suite now supports up to seven satellite constellations, including all operational satellites using NavIC to achieve more accurate positioning performance, faster TTFF location acquisition and improved robustness of location-based services.

Durga Malladi, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Qualcomm Technologies'4G/5G, said: "We are pleased to strengthen our commitment to India by supporting NavIC on the chipset platform and continuing to work with ISRO to accelerate the adoption of NavIC."

"We are pleased to work with ISRO to bring NavIC to Indian consumers and improve their navigation experience with greater accuracy and reliability," said Rajen Vagadia, vice president of Qualcomm India Private Co., Ltd.

"NavIC is an important step in the country's use of space technology to promote national development," said Dr. K. Sivan, Minister of Space Affairs, India, who longs for everyone in India to use it and integrate it into the day-to-day use. "ISRO is very happy to work with Qualcomm to enable the NavIC to run on a mobile platform."
