Huawei reiterates that it will not build cars, build intelligent electric platforms in the future, and develop lidar

On October 23, Xu Zhijun, chairman in office of Huawei, reiterated the strategy of Huawei's intelligent automobile business: no car building, focus on ICT technology, and become an incremental component supplier for intelligent connected vehicles.

He said that with the integration of automobile and information and communication technology, the intelligent network electric vehicle is becoming a new revolutionary development engine of human society, and its impact is far beyond the two industries themselves.

It is understood that Huawei will help car companies build good cars from five aspects: intelligent Internet connection, intelligent driving, intelligent cockpit, electric and cloud services. In the future, Huawei will build millimeter wave radar based on 5g technology and develop laser radar to solve its current cost and performance problems, Xu said.

Dear guests, ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon!

It is a great honor to attend the World Intelligent Network Federation Automobile Conference. I would like to take this opportunity to share how Huawei focuses on ICT technology to enable car companies.

As I said at the Shanghai auto show on April 17, with the deep integration of automobile and information communication technology, the intelligent Internet connected electric vehicle has become a new revolutionary development engine of human society, which has far more influence than the two industries themselves. Intelligent Internet connected vehicle will bring great changes to human society, automobile industry and human travel, which are mainly reflected in five aspects:

First, ICV will become a platform for continuous value creation.After the traditional mobile phones move to smart phones, smart phones have become a platform for the whole industry to continuously create value. We are glad to see that once the car moves from the traditional car to the intelligent Internet connected car, it will also become a platform for the entire automobile life cycle to continuously create value for the industry and continuously improve the experience for consumers.

Second, in the future, the whole society should be a combination of car ownership and travel services.

Third, people who have cars know that what we hate most is that the entertainment system in the car hasn't changed for decades. I think the smart cockpit and other systems in the automotive field should be organically integrated with the industrial chain and ecology of our booming smart terminal. That is to bring the experience of mobile phone to the car and bring the hardware ecology and application ecology of mobile phone into the smart cabin.

Fourth, the traditional automobile is based on E / E architecture, that is, bus decentralized control architecture. We think that in order to move towards intelligent networked vehicle, it should be a distributed network domain controller architecture.

Fifth, after connecting, the car is no longer an isolated mechanical object, but a kind of network terminal, which naturally faces the problems of network security and information security. Therefore, the concept of vehicle safety should move from traditional safety to credibility.

Noting the convergence trend of ICT industry and automobile, Huawei has been exploring how to give full play to our technology accumulation advantage in ICT industry in the past four to five years in order to promote the traditional automobile industry to move towards intelligent Netflix. After several years of exploration, we have made our strategic choices clear: Huawei does not build cars, focuses on ICT technology, becomes an incremental component supplier for intelligent Netlink cars, and helps car companies.

In order to implement this strategy, Huawei officially established the intelligent vehicle solution Bu on May 29, to implement the strategy for intelligent Internet connected vehicles. At the same time, we have further planned solutions for the intelligent network connected vehicle, including five aspects:One is the most traditional intelligent Internet connection, how to connect the car with the cloud, the car with the car, the car with the object, the car with the surrounding area.The second is intelligent driving.The third is the smart cockpit.The fourth is intelligent electric.Fifth, we provide a series of cloud services to help car companies develop innovation and support travel services.Mainly in these five directions to help car companies build good cars.

First of all, from the traditional car to the intelligent network car, must carry on the structure change. The traditional E / E architecture is a bus plus decentralized control architecture, which has hundreds of controllers in a car, but to the intelligent Networked vehicle, we should fully integrate the achievements and accumulation of ICT technology in the past few decades, make the car into the architecture of three domain controllers of distributed Ethernet network, realize the software definition of the car, and continuously enhance the experience for consumers. In this way, in the life cycle of the car, continuous value creation can be achieved through software upgrades or hardware replacement. It is well known that following Moore's Law, electronics technology is rapidly improving and costs are rapidly falling.

Here I share Huawei's practices in several specific directions:

First, we want to build an MDC intelligent driving platform.Through this platform, establish a wide range of ecology, and finally through open cooperation, promote the whole automobile industry to become intelligent. Our biggest advantage is the ability of AI and cloud. We will build an MDC intelligent driving platform based on Huawei shengteng chip, plus intelligent driving operating system and automatic driving cloud service. Through the reopening of the API on the intelligent driving platform, we will work with partners such as component providers, integrators and application developers to create three ecosystems:

One is sensor ecology.It includes laser radar, millimeter wave radar, camera, etc., which makes these sensors easy to connect with MDC. As one of the options, Huawei will also use its 5g technology to develop millimeter wave radar to achieve all-weather imaging. At the same time, we will make full use of the world's leading optoelectronic technology to develop laser radar to truly solve the cost and performance problems faced by laser radar.

Second, intelligent driving application ecologyWe hope to build the algorithm and application ecology based on MDC, hope our partners to develop the application of intelligent driving and the algorithm of intelligent driving based on MDC, and support the automobile industry to continuously provide innovative functions and services of intelligent driving.

Third, we connect MDC with various execution components, we make the interface standard well, so that MDC can easily cooperate with all execution components. In addition, we also face a series of laws, regulations, policies, standards and other issues and challenges. Therefore, we hope to establish a wide range of ecological alliances to promote the establishment of standards and consensus, so as to promote the whole automobile industry towards automation and truly achieve complete automatic driving.

Second, build an intelligent cockpit platform.Our core idea is to integrate the intelligent cockpit platform with the whole intelligent terminal ecosystem. We have a large number of smart phone users in China and around the world, and the entire industry has established a wide range of smart terminal ecology, truly realizing the scale and low cost. Intelligent cockpit is on the vehicle. We think we should introduce the hardware ecology, software ecology and application ecology of intelligent terminal into the intelligent cockpit. Huawei will build a platform for smart cockpit based on Kirin chip of smart phone and Hongmeng operating system. It is hoped that based on such a platform, the ecosystem of intelligent cockpit will be built finally. It is hoped that the hardware of intelligent cockpit in the future can also be replaced, the application is constantly updated, and the software can also be continuously upgraded.

Third, we need to build an intelligent electric platformAnd make the car enterprises form a differentiated experience in electric. We develop a MCU, and build a vehicle control operating system based on MCU. Based on this operating system, it is open to all automobile development enterprises, and constantly improve user differentiated experience. Based on the VDC platform, all vehicle enterprises can better control the differentiated vehicle.

At the same time, Huawei has a scale of 5 billion US dollars in the energy industry. We make full use of the scale and device consistency of the energy industry, reduce the cost of electrification, and solve the cost and performance problems of charging, electric drive and battery management.

Finally, we want to connect the car to the road and the car to the car through 4G, 5g and v2x technologies. At the same time, through cloud services, we can effectively manage all the connected vehicles, so as to build an ecosystem that connects all the vehicles.

We hope that the ICT technology accumulated over the years will be oriented to the intelligent Netflix automobile industry, around intelligent cockpit, intelligent driving, intelligent Netflix, intelligent electric and related cloud services, to really help car enterprises to quickly build intelligent Netflix cars, to become a real supplier of incremental components for intelligent Netflix automobile enterprises, and to help our partners.
