Sony, Intel and NTT announced Thursday that they will work together to develop 6G mobile network technology. It is expected that 6G mobile network will be launched around 2030.The 5G network is just beginning to roll out, but the three companies plan to set up a mechanism to study the 6G network technology in the United States next year. They are planning to invite other major transnational corporations to join the agency, including Chinese companies.
One goal of the three companies is to develop more advanced semiconductor technology. They may even solve user problemscellphoneTucao of battery life time: we hope to develop a smartphone that can charge at most 1 years.
Some cities in South Korea and the United States have launched 5G networks, China's major mobile operators plan to launch the world's largest 5G network this week, and Japanese telecom operators plan to start offering 5G services next spring. Qualcomm, Nokia and Ericsson are competing to develop more advanced chip technology.HUAWEIIt has also obtained a large number of related patents, and is improving the strength of technology research and development.
Sony and NTT hope to pass theIntel Cooperation, gain advantage in competition.
The industry will finalize the specifications of 6G chips and telecommunications standards in the next few years. NTT has successfully trial-produced optically operated chips with an energy consumption of only 1% of that of traditional chips. It plans to speed up the mass production of such chips by working with Sony and Intel
