The real process that can turn Samsung in the wafer contract market is 3nm, because the node industry will abandon FinFET transistors to GAA transistors. Samsung was the first to announce the 3nm GAA process. TSMC has released less information in this regard and is not sure about the specific progress.
According to Samsung, compared with the current 7nm process, the 3nm process can reduce the core area by 45%, the power consumption by 50%, and the performance by 35%.
Samsung says it is accelerating the 3-nm R & D, and it is expected to complete the technology development in 2020, and follow-up will start the process of testing and mass production.
