After the release of the overall GPU Market ReportJPR also released the Q3 AIB unique display report. In the current quarter, the shipment of 10.5 million pieces was unique, a 42% increase on a month on month basis, a 6.2% increase on a year-on-year basis, and the market value was $2.8 billion.
For many years, JPR has been making statistics on the market data of GPU and AIB, including desktop, server, workstation, rendering and mineral card markets. Currently, there are only two independent GPU manufacturers and 54 AIB manufacturers in the world.
There are only AMD and NVIDIA in GPU market of video card. The share of the two is the only one in the whole market. In Q3, AMD's share was 27.08%, an increase of 1.4% compared with 25.72% in the same period last year, but a decrease of 5% compared with 32.08% in Q2.
NVIDIA's Q3 share reached 72.92%, down 1.4 percentage points from 74.28% in the same period last year, but up 5 percentage points on a month on month basis。
How to interpret these two data changes? First of all, the shipment volume of Q3's unique market is growing, so both of them are growing. NVIDIA's growth is obviously faster. The previous report said that the shipment volume of Q3 increased by 38%, which can be said to be a total win, widening the share gap with AMD.
AMD is also growing. Compared with this time last year, in Q3 of this year, amd had rx5700 Series graphics cards with 7Nm technology. New products still drive the growth. But the problem of AMD is that the 7Nm GPU layout is too slow. In addition to rx5700 series, the desktop versions of rx5500 and rx5300 series have not been put on the market, and they are only shipped in some OEM fields.
A little further, AMD needs to further improve the performance and energy efficiency of the graphics card, and increase the ray tracing rendering function, which is the future 7nm process RDNA 2 architecture graphics card.
