In the past 50 years, amd has lagged Intel by one or two generations in CPU technology most of the time. It's not that AMD doesn't work hard, but that Intel is too strong. For more than 20 years, it has the most advanced process technology on earth. The official said that their manufacturing technology is three and a half years ahead of their rivals. Of course, it's the node before 22nm.
However, on the nodes after 14nm, Intel encountered some problems. The 10nm process was delayed in mass production, and the 14nm process had to be improved for three generations. At present, it is still the main force of high-performance CPU, which also gives amd the opportunity to surpass. In 2017, amd launched the 14nm sharp Dragon generation, and this year, it is the first 7Nm sharp dragon generation, which has been two generations ahead of its rivals in technology.
Even so, AMD has not lost awe of Intel, Forrest Norrod, senior vice president and general manager of data center business, said at the Barclays Technical Conference a few days ago.
