Microsoft officially released a new version of its Edge browser in January, ditching its own kernel for the open source Chromium kernel. Now Microsoft is continuing to optimize its new Edge browser, with the latest version of 81.X up 13% from 79.X.
Microsoft's official blog published today, claiming that its performance was significantly improved by adding new tool chain optimizations to the browser, starting with version 81.0.389.0 on the windows 10x64.
Microsoft compared the first edge 79.0.309.71 with the latest edge 81.0.389.0. Each browser ran ten speedometer 2.0 tests,The median score of edge 79 is 84.85, and the median score of edge 81 is 95.6, with a performance improvement of about 13%.
Edge 81 is expected to be released by the end of this month, but users who want to try it can upgrade dev (weekly upgrade) or Canary (daily upgrade) to get the latest version of edge browser.
