Apple maps will soon show the location of the covid-19 test in the United States directly, as well as the specific information of the selected test location.Apple today launched an online portal for medical institutions, laboratories or other businesses to register as a covid-19 testing site. The application will then be reviewed by the apple maps team and, upon approval, the site will appear on Apple maps.
While this process is similar to the Apple Maps Connect portal that businesses typically use to add information to Apple maps, the new service contains specific information COVID-19 detection points.
The test location will be displayed with a red medical glyph icon and a very eye-catching special "covid-19 test location" card. Apple maps will also provide information on place names, relevant medical institutions, contact numbers and websites, as well as the type of test locations. Apple also asked applicants to indicate whether a doctor's referral or appointment was required for the test site.
Apple doesn't say how long it will take to start showing test sites on the map, but promises to quickly verify and add as many test sites as possible, a function that seems to be moving beyond the u.s., meaning that it may offering global services.
