Foreign media: NVIDIA、AMD server chip sales are increasing

Foreign media said in the latest report that the sales of server chips of NVIDIA and AMD are increasing, and they are very optimistic about the future.

The performance of NVIDIA's server related chips is reflected in their financial statements in the data center business. The revenue of this business in fiscal year 2020 is 2.983 billion US dollars, and its proportion in NVIDIA's revenue has increased from 25% in the previous fiscal year to 27.4%.

In the first quarter of fiscal year 2021 ending April 26, NVIDIA's data center business had revenue of $1141 million, which accounted for 37% of NVIDIA's revenue in the quarter.

Compared with NVIDIA's revenue of nearly 3 billion in the latest fiscal year, the scale of AMD server related chips is smaller. The foreign media estimates that it is 1 billion US dollars, about one third of that of NVIDIA.

However, foreign media pointed out in the report that AMD has been supported by TSMC's advanced chip technology, the revenue of their data center market is also growing rapidly, and the share of server field is increasing. In addition, foreign media reported that since AMD is the only chip developer with an APU product line that integrates their own CPU and GPU, they are also expected to gradually establish their own server ecosystem.

Foreign media also mentioned in the report that NVIDIA and AMD are optimistic about the sales of server related chips in the second quarter as the demand for high-performance computing and artificial intelligence applications in data centers is still strong.
