This week, arm hosted the devsummit developer summit.

At the meeting, The ARM previews the next two generations of Cortex CPU nuclei, codenamed Matterhorn( Matt Hung, the most known peak in the Alps) and Makalu( Makaru, at 8463 m (see chart).

Peak performance,Makalu in 2022 is expected to increase by 30% over cortex-a78. Note that the cortex A78 performance base here is a 5nm, 3GHz reference chip

Arm also said that the performance of this year's cortex-a78 is 2.5 times better than that of 2016's cortex-a73.

In addition, arm also introduces the new development and supporting situation of its instruction set in AI, ML, security and other fields.

At present, there is no commercial application of mobile SoC Based on cortex-a78 / X1 public version architecture. If no accident, the snapdragon 875, which will be launched in early December, will have no suspense based on this magic transformation. Of course, Samsung's new exynos flagship chip, Huawei Kirin 9000, and MediaTek Tianji 2000 are also powerful practitioners of the new architecture.
