According to foreign media reports, Nokia recently won the 5g small cell contract from Taiwan China Telecom. Previously, Nokia has won 5g contracts from Taiwan mobile phone and Asia Pacific Telecom, and signed a 5g ran contract with China Telecom earlier this year.It is reported that China Telecom is also using ran equipment from Ericsson and has selected this Swedish equipment supplier as its exclusive supplier of 5g core network equipment.

However, the Taiwanese operator has now chosen Nokia to offer it 5g NSA small cell solution, which uses airscale indoor radio (Asir) to improve indoor coverage and capacity, and airscale micro RRH to build hot spots in outdoor and urban areas.

Nokia said that its deployment work has started, and about 140 5g small cells have been put in place. Although there is no clear description of the scope and time of future deployment, this deployment will obviously complement the existing 2500 4G small cells of China Telecom.

"We are an existing customer of Nokia's 4G small cell portfolio, and we have not hesitated to adopt their 5g product for the first wave of deployment." Dr. Max Chen, President of China Telecom's mobile business unit, said.

According to media reports, Nokia will provide 5g ran, core network and IMS solutions to its estimated contract value of 400 million euro (US $449.6 million). Asia Pacific Telecom's contract covers 5g ran and core network, but the value of the contract was not disclosed.
