However, while announcing the latest progress of the lenix project, cloudlinux has also changed the name of the replacement to almalinux (Latin for "soul") to thank the Linux community for its unremitting efforts.
As a Linux distribution with stable user experience, it can be put into production at any time,Project LenixAnd the rest of it remains the same. Almalinux is still completely free, open source, owned and managed by the community, and is 1:1 binary compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Edition (RHEL 8).
In addition, almalinux distribution will also replace CentOS stable version, and there is no need to change any line of code in terms of software, so the migration process is quite fast and easy.
Earlier, cloudlinux Inc. committed $1 million a year to the development, maintenance, security, and other aspects of the community driven RHEL Linux distribution, project lenix.
Looking ahead, the cloudlinux team will continue to support the new version of RHEL and provide stable and tested updates to almalinux free of charge by 2029.
