In September, SONY hired Andrea Perez, a key executive from sportswear company Nike, to join its global marketing division, according to Gamerant. The new member will hold the title of senior vice president of worldwide marketing and focus on SONY's Interactive Entertainment division.
In September 2022, Andre Perez, former global vice president of Nike and general manager of Jordan Women's Division, became SVP of worldwide marketing for SONY Interactive Entertainment (SIE) /PlayStation. The news was broken by multiple media outlets, as well as SVP's linkedin, where Perez shared about her work at Nike and her new role at SIE.
IT House has learned that Perez will oversee multiple global marketing campaigns related to the PlayStation. Perez's previous role as head of marketing for Nike's Jordan women's clothing division could give her a unique perspective on this particular demographic, given that video games and the PlayStation brand are now largely male-centric. SONY's move may be an attempt to better appeal to gamers of other gender and age groups. Perez will promote all PlayStation products, not just games, including the new PlayStationStars program, as well as hardware such as the PS5 and PSVR headscreens.
