Intel's CEO has made new changes to the company's business, further separating design and manufacturing, and strengthening the independence of the chip foundry business.
In short, under IDM 2.0, Intel will be taking outside orders and allocating more chips to other vendors.
So in a recent interview with the press,Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said he would be happy to manufacture chips for AMD, NVIDIA, Qualcomm and Apple, and Intel hopes to win those orders.
He also acknowledges that TSMC has done an excellent job over the past 30 years and has a complete contract manufacturing ecosystem.
Still, Kissinger stressed that Intel's own products will win the market, including the world's fastest high-performance computers, fastest Gpus, and fastest standalone graphics cards. He's a bit of a mystery. Next year, you'll see Meteor Lake with its heterogeneous processors.
Now, Intel does, too. Reference & throughout; Samsung, TSMC, changed the name of the process, such as the past 10nm is now called Intel 7, the past 7nm is now called Intel 4.
