Tuniu posted a net revenue of 77.9 million yuan ($10.9 million) in the third quarter, down 32.1 percent year on year, mainly due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the financial results. The net loss was 23.5 million yuan (about $3.3 million), compared with a net loss of 36.6 million yuan in the same period in 2021. The Non-GAAP net loss was 21.6 million yuan (about $3 million).

  Third Quarter Results:

Net revenue was 77.9 million yuan ($10.9 million), down 32.1 percent year on year, mainly due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The cost of revenue was 32.8 million yuan (about US $4.5 million), down 56.2% from the same period in 2021.

Gross margin was 57.8% compared to 34.7% for the same period in 2021.

Operating expenses were 59.3 million yuan (approximately US $8.3 million), down 38.5% from the same period in 2021. Non-gaap operating expenses were Rmb57.4 million (approximately US $8.1 million), down 36.9% from the same period in 2021.

R&d spending was 9.7 million yuan ($1.4 million), down 37.6% from the same period in 2021. Non-gaap R&D spending was 9.2 million yuan (US $1.3 million), down 37.1% from the same period in 2021.

Sales and marketing expenses were 26.5 million yuan (about US $3.7 million), down 36.4% from the same period in 2021. Non-gaap sales and marketing expenses were $26 million (approximately $3.7 million), down 35.3% from the same period in 2021.

General affairs and administrative expenditure was 24.3 million yuan (about $3.4 million), down 41.1% from the same period in 2021. Non-gaap general and administrative expenses were 23.4 million yuan (approximately US $3.3 million), down 38.7% from the same period in 2021.

An operating loss of 14.3 million yuan (about $2 million) compared with an operating loss of 56.6 million yuan in the same period in 2021. Without GAAP, the operating loss was 12.3 million yuan ($1.7 million).

The net loss was 23.5 million yuan (about $3.3 million), compared with a net loss of 36.6 million yuan in the same period in 2021. The Non-GAAP net loss was 21.6 million yuan (about $3 million).

Net loss attributable to common shareholders was 22 million yuan (approximately US $3.1 million), compared to a net loss attributable to common shareholders of 35.1 million yuan for the same period in 2021. The Non-GAAP net loss attributable to common shareholders was RMB20.1 million (approximately US $2.8 million).

As of September 30, 2022, Tuniu's cash and cash equivalents, cash for restricted purposes and short-term investments totaled 949.6 million yuan (about US $133.5 million).

  Appointment of new Directors:

Tuniu today announced that Chen Jie has been appointed as an independent director to the Company's board of directors, effective December 1, 2022. Chen Jie is currently the Chairman of Caisar Travel (000796.SZ).

  Performance Outlook:

Tuniu expects net revenue to reach 23.5 million yuan to 30.8 million yuan in the fourth quarter of 2022, down 58 percent to 68 percent year on year.
