Sina digital news January 5 morning news, Qualcomm Inc. today launched Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC, for the company's growing Snapdragon digital chassis product portfolio to bring the latest products. Snapdragon Ride Flex SoCs are designed to support mixed critical-level workloads across heterogeneous computing resources, with a single SoC supporting digital cockpit, ADAS, and AD functions simultaneously.

To achieve the highest level of vehicle safety, Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC provides isolation, interference free and quality of Service (QoS) capabilities for specific ADAS functions at the hardware architecture level, with built-in dedicated Vehicle Safety Integrity Level D (ASIL-D) containment islands. In addition, Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC's pre-integrated software platform enables multiple operating systems to run simultaneously, through isolated virtual machines and real-time operating system (OS) support for Automotive Open System Architecture (AUTOSAR) hypervisor, Meet mixed critical level workload requirements for driver assistance safety systems, digital dashboards that support configurations, infotainment systems, driver monitoring systems, and parking assistance systems.

Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC Pre-integrates with the industry-proven Snapdragon Ride visual software stack to enable a highly scalable and safe driver assistance and autonomous driving experience, using forward-looking cameras to meet regulatory requirements, It also uses multi-modal sensors (multiple cameras, radar, lidar and maps) to enhance the perception and create a model of the vehicle's surroundings for the introduction of vehicle control algorithms. The Snapdragon Ride visual software stack meets the requirements of the New Car Evaluation Code (NCAP) and the European Union General Safety Regulation (GSR) for vehicles, and can be scaled up to support higher levels of autonomous driving.

Building on the company's continued success in building open, scalable, high-performance, fuel-efficient automotive solutions, the Snapdragon Ride Flex family of SOCs is compatible with the broader portfolio of SOCs covered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon digital chassis platform. The Snapdragon Ride Flex Series SoC is optimized for scalable performance and supports centralized computing systems from entry level to high-end, top-of-the-line, helping automakers flexibly select the right performance points for different vehicle tiers. This feature enables automakers to implement complex cockpit use cases, such as integrated dashboards and rear entertainment screens that support immersive high-end graphics, infotainment and gaming displays, while creating a top-of-the-line audio experience with ultra-low latency and pre-integrated Snapdragon Ride visual software stack. Through software and hardware co-design, the above performance requirements can be met.

Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC aims to be the best in-car central computing platform to enable next-generation software-defined vehicle (SDV) solutions by providing the industry's top capabilities for high-performance heterogeneous secure computing and flexible running of hybrid critical cloud-native workloads. In-car computing is complemented by rich platform software that can be deployed on top of containerized infrastructures. Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC can be developed using cloud-native automotive software development workflows, including support for virtual platform simulation, which can be integrated as part of Cloud-Native DevOps and machine learning operations (MLOps) infrastructure.

The first Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC is currently being tested, and mass production is expected to begin in 2024.

"Qualcomm Technologies has always been at the forefront of innovation in automotive computing," said Nakul Duggal, senior vice president and general manager, Automotive business, Qualcomm Technologies. As we move into the software-defined vehicle era, the Snapdragon Ride Flex family of SoCs is redefining a new benchmark for high-performance, fuel-efficient hybrid critical architecture. Our pre-integrated hardware, software and ADAS/AD software stack solutions enable automakers and tier 1 suppliers to drive the transition to an open, scalable and integrated architecture across all vehicle tiers in a more convenient and cost efficient way, and enable the ecosystem to build differentiated products based on the Snapdragon platform with the advantage of accelerating product to market."
