According to CCTV, the opening ceremony of the subway localization manufacturing project of Istanbul Airport Line was held in Ankara, Turkey yesterday. The Istanbul Airport Line, an important transportation link between the airport and the city center, is also Turkey's first high-speed subway line, which has opened for 34 kilometers, with an average daily capacity of 800000 passengers.

According to reports, this is China's first 120 km / h driverless subway project to start overseas, and it is also Turkey's first driverless subway project, marking the start of local manufacturing of the fastest subway train in Turkey.

The subway train on the Istanbul Airport Line is developed by a Chinese company and is grouped with four sections, with a maximum capacity of 1100 passengers.

It is worth mentioning that the first phase of 10 trains (40 trains) on the line was put into operation on January 22, 2023 and was built by China CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd., with a speed of 120 kilometers per hour. A total of 15 trains (60 trains) were built in the second phase of the self-driving subway localization project.

When the first phase of the subway opened, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the opening ceremony: "this subway line with a daily capacity of 800000 passengers will be allowed to travel from Kagithane station to Istanbul airport within 24 minutes."

According to CRRC, the 34-kilometer subway line has the fastest train in Turkey, and the vehicle running the line is China's first 120 km / h self-driving subway project for overseas markets. It is reported that the contract involves 176 subway cars and requires a localization rate of 60% in Turkey.

Turkey's Ministry of Transport has previously said that the subway line will save Turkey about $3.01 million over the next 30 years. It will greatly reduce road maintenance costs, reduce air pollution and save people travel time.
